Beloved Lois Marilynn Sargent passed away peacefully on the morning of December 17th, 2018 with her loving family by her side. Lois was born April 1st, 1934 in Cook County, Illinois to the late Wesley Gustav and M. Cecilia Shellen. As a young woman she made her way from Illinois to Arizona and finally to California where she put roots down in a home at the top of a private dirt hill in Santee. She spent the early years of adulthood as a homemaker and later went to college to earn a degree. Lois began working for Cox Communications in the mail room and worked her way up to a revered manager of Cable Technical Support & Repair where she eventually retired after more than 20 years.
Lois was an avid collector, she spent many days with her late siblings and family searching for antiques to fill her cherished home. She enjoyed gardening, and had a flair for gourmet food and wine. Later in life she developed a love for baseball and the Padres game was always on when she was around. Her warm heart, open mind, and comfy home was always welcoming for friends and family alike. She was elated for any type of gathering, especially at Christmas time. Lois made Christmas magic for all with her Santa collection, vast Snow Village town, grand tree and bountiful dining room table filled with food and wine. She absolutely loved her family with great passion, and she committed to being Mom, Gramma and Gigi.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Sargent, brother Wesley Shellen and her sister Kay Cameron. She is survived by her four daughters Lynn (Skip) Stephenson, Sharon (Bob) Graham, Evelyn (Jay) Roberts, Susan Sargent, her six grandchildren Jennifer (Josh) Conner, Andrew Dinh, Sara (Rudy) Cadena,
Jeffery (Trisha) Stephenson, Keith Graham, Melanie Dinh, and her ten great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Zane, Taytum, Reade, Gavin, Nolan, Jackson, Remy, Zoey and Secilia. She will also be forever remembered by her nieces, nephew, extended family, dear friends and coworkers.
Lois will be deeply missed, but the memory of her kind heart and all-encompassing love will stay with all whose life she touched. A celebration of Lois’ life will take place on Saturday, February 23rd at 2:00 pm at the City of Santee Community Service Department, 10601 Magnolia Avenue, Santee, Ca 92071 in Suite 8P
