Clell Brewer passed away on July 9, 2018 at the age of 78.
A native of San Diego, Clell grew up in a loving family of 5 including his father Norval F. Brewer, his mother Marjorie W. Brewer and his two brothers, Norval Brewer (older) and Vernon Brewer (younger).
In 1957 he married Martha Ware Brewer and together had 3 children, Brent, Kimberly and Michelle. In 1980 Clell married his 2nd wife Margaret Pontius Brewer.
He embarked on his career in the construction industry at the age of 17 years old. His first job was with F.E. Young Construction Company. He was a determined worker and gained all of his experience on the job. He quickly moved through the ranks and advanced into management roles working for companies like Riha, Cass Construction & M.H. Golden. As Project Manager for M.H. Golden, he erected the Iowa Electric Tower (the first high-rise in the state of Iowa and his first major accomplishment) at the age of 30. When the project was completed he returned to San Diego with his family and continued with M.H. Golden on two more major projects as Operations Manager, the Hotel Del Coronado and the Coronado Shores Condominiums. In 1977 he purchased F.E. Young Construction Company (his first employer) to form Cabrillo Crane & Rigging Corporation. He retired from his own business in 1993.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three children, older brother, and two grandchildren John (20) and Lauren (18). Clell was a character who loved telling stories, implementing old school life lessons, and accomplishing life achievements. He was always friendly, encouraging and inspirational, often helping those in need. He enjoyed spending time working in his yard and at his vacation home on the Colorado River.
Clell's Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 25th, at Skyline Church, 11330 Campo Road, La Mesa, CA 91941 with Pastor Paul Prischer residing and Norval Brewer officiating.
Lunch will be served.
The family would like to invite you to share your thoughts, memories & condolences on his obituary web page.
